About the Program

The Fay-West Veterans Banner Program is proud to announce the launch of its updated Veterans Banner Program, an initiative dedicated to honoring the brave men and women who have served our country. This program will display banners throughout the town, each featuring a local veteran’s name, photograph, and branch of service.

The Fay-West Veterans Banner Program aims to recognize and celebrate the sacrifices made by our veterans, both past and present. Banners will be prominently displayed on utility poles along several streets in Scottdale, PA.

We are pleased to announce that applications for the 2026 Fay-West Veterans Banner Program will be accepted from September 1, 2025, through November 30, 2025.

Any applications received after November 30, 2025, will be considered for the next program year.

Eligibility: Veterans, both living and deceased, must have been born, raised, or currently reside in Fayette or Westmoreland counties, or have a significant connection to the Scottdale community.

Nomination: Families and friends are encouraged to nominate veterans by submitting a completed application form, a high-resolution photograph, a copy of the honorees separation papers (DD214), and a brief biography of the veteran’s service.

You can download an application at faywestveterans.org. You can also submit your application online if you choose to do so.

The estimated cost for 2025 is $200 per street banner requested which includes the 27” x 36” banner with applicant photo and military designation, the cost of a full kit street pole banner bracket set and the cost for hanging. The location of the banner will be at the sole discretion of the Fay-West Veterans Banner Program. Current plans are to hang banners in Scottdale Borough.

Banners are expected to be placed by Memorial Day of the program year (2026) and will remain in place until they are no longer viable. They will then be returned to the applicant, if possible. Viability is dependent on weather conditions throughout the year, but most banners remain in good condition for 3-5 years, but length of time is not guaranteed due to varying weather years.

Banners that show extreme deterioration will be removed to provide the utmost respect to our military service personnel.
